Enji-maawinjidiyaang Indigenous Friendship Centre “Where we gather” had a year of growth and planted roots in the Community of Elliot Lake.
Programming
Located in Serpent River First Nation within the Trading Post. A mobile unit is also used that visits communities in the Robinson Huron Treaty area with a focus on the communities of Mamaweswen the North Shore Tribal Council.
Aside from the general visits, programming includes:
- Drumming
- Bowling
- Craft Hour
- Book Club
- Social hour
- Mommy/daddy and me
- Learn and lounge
- Anishinaabemowin language (2)
- Painting and other holiday or date specific initiatives
- Walk and Talk
- Pancake Breakfast
- Remembrance Day
- Pumpkin Carving
- Pictures with Santa
- Gift Wrapping
Areas of Need as identified by our members and year operation:
- Housing (Transitional and support).
- Childcare and youth programming.
- Programs with Indigenous Culture and Knowledge
